The Snowglobe Conspiracy

Book 1 of Where Magic Settles

Coming Soon

Explaining I heard the wood screaming in my mind was a good way to get locked in the loony bin.

Hedy Parker arrives in Washington, DC, a city run entirely on magic, to learn about the abilities she can’t control. Immersing herself in this melting pot community of humans and formerly mythical creatures is a process, but she’s game.

Until she stumbles over the shriveled-up corpse with a shattered magical snowglobe nearby.

The wooden base is screaming, and only she can hear it because Hedy can feel the emotions and intentions of trees.

As the body count rises, each with a snowglobe, Hedy goes in search of answers to questions no one else is asking. What she finds instead is a snazzy hobgoblin who can’t effectively plot without sandwiches. Together, they uncover a conspiracy that could kick off the next apocalypse. Unfortunately, Hedy is a little too familiar with how easy they are to start… having caused the last one.

The Snowglobe Conspiracy is a contemporary fantasy where the monsters have day jobs, the bad guys never win, and finding your ride-or-die people might just save the world.

P.S. Book 1 introduces Fenlo, an adorable gnome specializing in chaos.

Public Service Announcement: Imps are thugs.

I’m all set to build a full and satisfying life here in Washington. Easier said than done.

I can mostly ignore the random holes, but Torin and Fenlo’s projects to add dwarven tech conveniences are beginning to drive my new house to sentience. Meanwhile, my efforts to add a pocket universe to my bedroom closet to make it the walk-in of my dreams are… ongoing.

So, when my father says he wants to get acquainted, I give him the chance. Of course, he gives me some odd ‘I was there’ tale about ancient Crete. He drives me nuts. Since I don’t have a job yet, I went to the Smithsonian and confirmed his story. Which, happily, gave me something interesting to investigate.

I mean, why are objects from an archaeological dig in the Middle East glowing with aether? And now Torin is worried that the Icosa Key Venn acquired might go to forbidden dwarven tech. All of it begging the question: what have the Anû been doing on Earth, and since when?

I’d love to find the answers, but right now that’s impossible with the imps. Who are thugs!

I need to focus on finding a job, not imps or ancient mysteries no one cares about. But then Ansel went and showed me how to use dragon vision to see ley lines, which makes me one of two people who can see the imps surfing them like a superhighway. And he’s not helping. Between imp bites and being terrorized by anything magic-powered, things in the city have gotten entirely out of hand. And I don’t believe in coincidence. I could really use my mentor, Neris, but she’s off sulking at the bottom of a lake. The smart move is to leave well enough alone.

Except everything keeps leading back to the Smithsonian.

And that can’t be good.
